Do something
Like most people I am still trying to
comprehend the magnitude of the disaster that Hurricane
Katrina has caused in Louisiana and Mississippi. But I can't.
And like most people, I have been appalled by the images of
destruction, and especially the human despair, that I have
seen over and over again from all those whose lives have been
destroyed by the storm. ...

Restoring faith
Whenever I get depressed with all the bad news
in the paper, often times I will come across an article that
restores my faith in humanity. Well, last week I read
something about a couple churches that really made my day.
Several years ago Alyssa Blinn paid a contractor to do some
much-needed repairs to her home. Unfortunately, he never
finished the work and she was left with the mess and no more
money to get it done right. That is until the members of her
church took on the project fre ...

Because I said so
It seems every day Kathy comes home from work
and tells me about some frustrated mother who was trying to
reason with her two-year-old who was having a complete tantrum
in the middle of the restaurant. "What do you want to eat for
breakfast, Billy?" And of course, the kid always says he wants
a hamburger, even though they can't be served for another two
hours. Now you would think that a mother could just tell her
two-year-old they serve pancakes and eggs and that‚s what
you‚re getting ...

Respect for authority
When an Ottawa County high school sophomore won
an American Cancer Society fundraising contest recently, it
cost him an 80-day suspension from school. The 15-year-old son
of Don and Tina Molnar of Lakeside, an honor roll student,
bought a 50-cent raffle ticket at his school's Relay for Life
program. The prize was a chance to throw a "pie" - an aluminum
pie tin filled with whipped cream - at teachers and the school
principal. ...
